Hello there! Today I’m going to write about the ISO 9000 series. I got to know about this through a module that we had to learn in our university. I was interested in this topic so that’s when I thought of writing a blog post about it. Here we go!

ISO stands for International Organization for Standardization. ISO is an independent, non-governmental international organization which gives world-class specifications for products, services, and systems, to ensure quality, safety as well as efficiency. The ISO 9000 family specifically addresses various aspects of quality management. The standards provide guidance and tools for companies and organizations who want to ensure that their products and services consistently meet customer’s requirements and that quality is consistently improved [1].

INTRODUCTION

ISO 9000 series is all about quality. According to ISO 9000, Quality is defined by customer needs in terms of fitness for purpose. Quality is achieved through continuous improvement and managed through prevention, not detection. ISO 9001 is the global value for Quality Management System(QMS), which was currently updated in 2015, then is referred after as ISO 9001:2015.

This standard grade is based about a wide variety over administration principles, consisting of a vivid customer focus, the connection of the top management, the procedure approach etc.

Importance of ISO 9001

As mentioned earlier, ISO 9001 is an internationally recognized standard for creating, implementing, and monitoring a QMS for any company. As an international standard, it is recognized as the basis for any company to create a system to ensure customer satisfaction and improvement. Some of the benefits of ISO 9001 certification for an organization as well as for the customer is listed down below.

  3. Consistent outcomes are measured and monitored.
